PREVENTION RESOURCES
Prevention Resources, Inc., dedicated to the prevention of alcohol and drug abuse, treatment through education, training, intervention, community awareness, information/referral services, and counseling, earned the title. Jerry Collevechio, COO stated, “We have learned that taking the time to care for ourselves both physically and mentally, doesn’t take a lot of time, and is just as important in our daily planning, as scheduling a work meeting, or taking our kids to a sporting event. Take care of you and you can take better care of others!”
Prevention Resources created monthly challenges to get everyone involved. They embraced the #SmallChangesBigImpact philosophy to make positive changes over time. “Participating in challenges, the camaraderie, fun and yes crazy competition at times was a great way for, co-workers to come together and share the changes they have made. Going to the water cooler one day, to fill up my water bottle I would hear co-workers talking about swapping out a meat protein and replacing with beans, drinking more water, cutting out a snack, parking their car further away to get more steps in, this was amazing to hear, again Small Changes, Big impact, yes this is doable, we can do this!”
HUNTERDON CARDIOVASCULAR ASSOCIATES
As sponsors of the Healthy Hunterdon Workforce Initiative, Hunterdon Cardiovascular Associate’s core value is improving the health of their employees and the community. The Walk With A Doc program goes hand in hand with the Healthy Hunterdon Workforce Initiative. Christine Sabatino, Practice Administrator of Hunterdon Cardiovascular Associates stated, “Sponsoring the Healthy Hunterdon Workforce Initiative has had a lasting impact on our organization for several reasons; we’ve had the opportunity to witness the many success stories provided by the participants who made a commitment to creating a culture of health and wellness in their organization. We’ve seen the impact these businesses have experienced by investing in their employees well being, both physically and emotionally. They’ve improved morale, helped employees make positive changes in their lives and in the process significantly improved their staff member’s lives in intangible ways.”
BRITESIDE ADULT DAYCARE
Maureen Luster stated,“The Briteside gal’s participation in April’s Healthy Hunterdon Workforce Company to Company Challenge reaped many benefits, both individually & as a group. All of the gals were highly motivated individually, and the challenge resulted in weight loss for some of us! We’ve become more aware of what we eat; being mindful to try to make better food choices, home prepping meals instead of getting take out and paying attention to portion control. As a group, morale increased due to the girls support of each other, cheering each other on and the weekly “high fives” for our high scorers, Mary & Rebecca. Also all the gals reported an increase in energy, some minimal and some more so, about half way through the challenge. The equipment in our exercise room had begun to get dust covered, but since the challenge the equipment has been used almost daily during some of the girl’s lunch breaks. One of our girls has taken the leap to join Health Quest for classes & regular work outs! We continue to strive for better overall health & to maintain a positive attitude. We continue to support each other even when we have diet & health related setbacks. I think we all got to know each other a little better, which has resulted in a more harmonious work environment!”
SHOPRITE OF CLINTON
Sheila Suerig, Certified Nutrition Consultant and Clinton ShopRite’s Dietitian goes above and beyond with her employees and the Hunterdon Community. She sets a good example of what a Healthy Hunterdon Workforce Initiative Champion should be. Sheila explained, "having this awesome job as a certified nutritionist here at the Clinton ShopRite allows me to help my associates & our customers take small steps to better nutrition. Small changes add up to big results! I motivate and empower people to make modifications in their lives with the knowledge they gain from my free store tours, consultations, sampling, walking clubs, health fairs and more. I also encourage our employees to try new, healthier foods with my dietitian demos and talk to them individually about their exercise goals. We reward our associates with points every time they work out which translates to extra dollars in their paychecks. Being active everyday is so important for your body, mind and overall health and eating healthy is a journey....Here at ShopRite, we're providing the GPS."
